Recommended workplace for women: kitchen

[“I’m going to be a youth pastor,” my teenage girlfriend said. I was shocked. Women were not allowed to become pastors. “Honey, that’s silly. You know the Bible says women are supposed to be in submission, not authority. I don’t even want you to work outside the home — women should be at home, not at a job.”

The rest of the conversation didn’t go so well.

Christians make much ado about their commitment to family and marriage. They label themselves “pro-family” and “pro-life,” and think of those outside their cult as “anti-family” and “pro-death.” Yet the Christian teachings on submission and divorce cause immense suffering for many Christian women.
Biblical Teaching on Women and Divorce

[Women] are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission.
1 Cor. 14

Jesus, when asked about divorce, said, “whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery” (Matt. 19:9).

The Apostle Paul, when discussing women, said they “should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission” (1 Cor. 14). He also commanded women to be submissive to their husbands — in the same section he commands slaves to be submissive to their masters (Titus 2), making what most enlightened people would consider an uncomfortable parallel.
Trapped in Terrible Marriages

She is trapped because she is commanded to be submissive to her husband and is not allowed to consider divorce.

Make no mistake: there are many women trapped in terrible marriages due to these teachings. A friend I know, for example, is married to a man who is very harsh with her and their children. He is unkind and unjust. They are both Christians and are very involved in a small church. She is kind and submissive to him and does all she can to make him happy. Not only does she do all the housework and meals, but she also makes all the money — he doesn’t have a job. Yet he is one of the unhappiest people I know.

She is trapped because she is commanded to be submissive to her husband and is not allowed to consider or threaten divorce. In a normal marriage, she would tell her husband to get his act together or face the consequences of divorce. But instead, she tries to cheerfully serve him, be kind to him, and turn the other cheek.

He gets off the hook. There are no consequences for his actions. He gets to be a jerk, and still gets a woman who serves his every whim because she is commanded by God to be submissive to him. By doing this, she believes she is obeying God and pleasing him. She has no way out without disobeying her God and committing a great sin.

A Christian might respond, “But the husband isn’t fulfilling his biblical role of being a servant-leader. If he did, the marriage would be healed.” That is irrelevant — the husband is not a “servant-leader” and is unlikely to become one. He has no incentive to change, and in the meantime, it is he who benefits and the wife that suffers.
I Once Believed This

It is to my shame that I once enthusiastically agreed with these teachings. For many years I commanded my wife to not have a job and kept her home alone to “take care of the house” even though we had no children. When she did not do something I requested, I would lecture her on God’s commandments on submission. “I didn’t choose to be a man,” I’d say, “but God put me in charge and you must obey me.”

Yes, I was thoroughly brainwashed.]

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider God-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, wrongly believing that he has the Gods on his side.

How true it is, that we saw Hitler, adhering to Catholicism.

God(s) is/are real.

They’re alive in our hearts, in our minds, through our writings, passed down through stories told, moving through our art and drawings.

I want to say that not having a god makes one’s life more fulfilling, but all it leads to is more distractions.

i can’t bring myself to believe in a higher authority. Too many questions to ask, too many things I want to do.

Post on politics and religion. Don’t read if you’re not into theses kind of stuff.

The current war on ‘terror’ isn’t a war on ‘terror’ at all. How can one define such a vague concept such as ‘terrorism’? The people who do it don’t do it just to ‘terrify’ people. It’s a war on religion. It’s the Christians vs. the Muslims, and the Muslims against the World.

Bush is a devout Christian, and the majority of Americans are. Same goes for the Middle East. How is this not like the ancient crusades of old? How is it not like the Muslims assassinating enemies or plundering villages? This war on terror is nothing but a veil to continue the centuries old feud between two religions.

People like to say those Muslims are “extremists”. In what way are they so extreme? All they do is take their holy book literally and believe what their religious leaders. Is that very extreme? A good percentage of people on this world do that. Merely taking out these so-called ‘extremists’ isn’t nipping the problem in the bud.

Gah, and Singapore is also following on this ‘war on terror’. But, in anycase, what can they do? Be sensible, or be the enemy. Singapore has been playing it safe and being nice to everybody since the racial riots. I guess it is up to the individual himself to see.

Choice bible verses.

11:7. The man indeed ought not to cover his head: because he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.

11:8. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

11:9. For the man was not created for the woman: but the woman for the man.

Sorry ladies…according to the Bible, God made women to serve men. Ascending to descending order: God, Christ, Men, Women.

After thinking about it, my post may be offensive to people who believe in deities, instead I shall now highlight the word LOGIC to determine there why there probably is no God. I shall simplify things so that it’s more understandable.

I am an Atheist. “Atheism is the simple, logical conclusion based on the fact that there’s not a single bit of reliable, empirical evidence that any god exist.”-godlessgeeks.com

Now, let’s see, God, according to the bible, said that all was good when the Earth and He was happy. Now what does it say about this supposedly benevolent and all-wise God? If God doesn’t allow for death and extinction, then God doesn’t exist because death and extinction exists. Blaming death and sickness on the Fall(or Adam and Eve) is finding a scapegoat(incidentally, the term scapegoat comes from Christianity/Judaism).

Anyway, an omnipotent(all powerful) God will bear at least part or full responsibility producing the conditions which would have lead to the Fall. In fact, only He would have the power to bring death and decay to the universe. No amount of sins could make life cease to be.

No amount of suffering and sins can do anything. Suffering and sins are largely subjective words. In different cultures, sins can be different things. People are largely responsible for their own happiness and suffering.

Scientifically speaking, a place with no death is impossible in terms of physics and biology.

More things for you to ponder upon later

I BOUGHT A HARUHI SZUMIYA PHONE STRAP!! Damn nice and metal. 4.90 at comics connection.

I also bought a bleach art book. 32$(but got 20% discount) DAMN NICE. The best pics were the fold out of all the vice captains, and the beach scene featuring every lady(mostly not lady-like) of Bleach.

Lastly, I bought a book called “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary professor. It will be a weapon against religious people and my bible to try and convince those poor ignorant people who believe in Deities and Gods.

I love Christmas.

Except for the jesus part.
