A tale of two rice

I just had duck rice today. It’s like the anti-thesis of chicken rice. (I’m assuming braised duck and steamed chicken)

One is dark, one is white.

The chicken rice has a smooth feel and its sinfully good as each oily mouthful slides down your throat.

Duck rice, on the other hand has a rough texture. Each spoonful of dry, brown rice peppered with yam cubes punches you with its flavour.

Chicken meat is softer, easier to bite yet it’s flavour is too general. Duck is tougher and its skin refuses to be masticated, but the taste is strong, unmistakably duck-like.

The differences extend to the soup and chili. The soup for duck rice is as brown as the duck meat and its strong flavour tells you that it has gone through a lot to reach its present state. Chicken rice soup is clear, understated, almost like spring water. The sweet yet fiery chili for chicken rice is in deep contrast to the salty, slightly bitter chili of duck rice. Like a sword versus a grenade, one stabs you with intense spiciness while the other explodes your mouth with different taste sensations.

Who would win? I’m not sure, I would probably order both.

Things that people should do:

1. Invest in friendship
Like a fund, you will always get better returns than your capital.

2. Appreciate fine music
How else would you reward your intellect?

3. Know when to let go
Don’t set impossible targets.

4. Learn to like your work(or studies)
I can’t do that that though.

5. Exercise
Sweating is good!(unless the teacher finds out you’ve been playing soccer by your sweat)

I have a great idea for a drama. Remake of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but set it in a modern Singapore. either office politics or school sports drama. Probably school drama. Then have the roles gender reversed so we up the sex appeal. Martial Arts would be more authentic but not very appealing. Something like volleyball or Track and Field?

Imagine the story as 2 school teams fight it out on the court/stadium. Off the court there are catfights and as guys use their looks to seduce the leads and back stab them (just as the women in the original did). Whooooo!

Currently watching Library Wars, which is basically military anime+a hint of romance comedy. Set in the future, Japan has two factions fighting it out, the Library Task Force and the media-controlling group(forgot their name). A girl has joined the task force to follow her Prince Charming, the soldier who saved her book from being confiscated by the media group.

Today went gym with Shawn, half an hour then sian le. Go play street soccer. Fell and scrapped my knee. Changed to goalkeeper. Dived(for like the 1st time in my life) and blood dripped on the floor or something lol. so when you go play street soccer at tampines, you may be stepping on my blood.

Got this fucking Indian kid damn pro. His only problem is he must say Ronaldo before doing tricks. So I kp him by saying “wo wo wo, Ronaldo sia”; felt damn good. I couldn’t play at all. Too noob, opposing Mats keep laughing whenever I have the ball, don’t even dare to run forward or dribble. But all in all, great learning experience.

wanted to go shop afterwards for…stuff…but too tired. So ate sushi and went home.

When a man is naked-and doing what could be regarded as the pinnacle of adulthood, he reverts back to a mere child, wanting his mother’s, a woman’s, comfort.

When a man and a woman who do not know each other physically come together, they are both teacher and student, parent and child.

As different as the moon and the sun, yet intricately linked together.

On a totally unrelated note, screw chem.

On another unrelated note, here’s something i wrote

The dryad did not hear the “whoo, whoo” of the massive hook as it swung through the air.

The dryad did not smell the odour of the decaying flesh as it lingered in the air, like a stain that refused to go away.

The dryad did not see the gaping maw, salivating at the though of the smooth, succulent flesh that awaited it.

With a “whoosh” the meat hook flew through the air, and embedded itself into the body of Aiushtha. Spurts of arterial blood spray out of the wound, and the Enchantress screamed out in pain. Blue balls of light, known to the humans as Wisps came out from the ground and the trees to tend to the fatally injured dryad, but it was all in vain. As the dryad was slowly dragged to the huge, trap-like jaws of the Butcher, she blacked out, this being a fortunate event for she did not have to endure the pain of being eaten alive.

His job done, the Butcher retreated, to wait for other fresh meat…

school days 3

Emo-ing in process…on with the story.

It was lunch time. People were eating their box lunches, enjoying some time in the sun, or just hanging out with friends. Mike, though, was just looking out from the railing outside his class.

“Oi, Mike!” A boy jumped at Mike, broom in hand. A shocked Mike turned around just in time to parry the blow.

“Hi, Tuck” greeted back a mildly annoyed Mike.

“Hey I didn’t know you get along so well with Miss World,” Tuck ribbed Mike.

“You mean Shi Jie? She was the one who started talking to me.”Mike replied.

“So something has to be up right? Miss World is actually quite popular.” Mike grinned at Mike.

“Really? I thought she was just being noisy.” Mike was nonchalant.

“You have no taste in girls. hai…World is so cute, isn’t she?”

“You mean you like her?”

“Cute girls, I like them all!”

“Whatever.”

“You, Mike! You are being unfair!”

“What did I do? I do not have anything going on with Shi Jie!”

“You can say that now, but soon, you will become an adult and leave me behind…”

“Not with Shie Jie, though”

“Why do you have such charisma?! Am I the only one unattached?! I’ll kill you along with myself!” Tuck took Mike into a headlock and bent threateningly over the railing. It looked as if both of them would have died a terrible death if not for Shi Jie who popped out in front of them.

“Hey, Mike I need to talk to you.”

“Say it now then.”

“But it’s not something I can say now…” Shi Jie said in a deliberate coy voice, putting her hand over her skirt. Tuck smiled at Mike and gave a thumbs up sign.

“You idiot! It’s a misunderstanding! Really!”

“If I say it in front of everybody, I think it will cause embarrassment…” Shi Jie continued in the coy voice.

“Congratulations of your graduation into adulthood!”

“Shut up!!”

“And so, Hitler marched his troops into Austria to the cheers of the Austrians…” The teacher rambled on and on.

“Don’t tell anybody what you saw!” Mike whispered to Shi Jie.

“Why?”

“Never mind why. Just don’t!” Mike raised his voice and the teacher stopped his droning.

“What is it, Mike?”

“Nothing, nothing” He looked away, embarrassed.

Shi Jie wrote a few words on her notebook and showed it to Mike. “That girl on your phone looks like Class E’s Cassia.”

“So? I took that by accident.” Mike wrote back.

“Yeah, right.”

“Ok…I wouldn’t believe such a lame excuse myself >_<”

“Hahaha…>_<; You don’t have to hide it. Cassia’s quite the cute girl <3″ She continued writing. “How long have you had the charm?”

“First day.” Mike wrote back.

“What?! First day only?!” Cassia exclaimed. This time it was Cassia’s turn to look away as the class and teacher held an awkward silence. “Sorry, sorry! “

As Mike and Shi Jie continued with their conversation, a small green-eyed girl gazed stoically at the both of them from the table diagonally right from them.

school days 2

Previous part: http://insanejake.wordpress.com/2008/03/14/435/

Mike went into his classroom. Half of the class was already inside, and all the choice seats had been taken. He decided to take a seat in the back corner of the class, and continued admiring the girl’s photo on his phone.

“Hey, who’s that?” A female voice said from behind him. Mike nearly jumped a feet into the air. His face felt warm.

“Nobody…” He quickly closed his flip phone. What was this girl’s name? He could not remember.

“I’m Shi Jie(世界) . Guess my parents wanted to see the world, but couldn’t afford to. Hahaha!” She guffawed at her own cold joke while Mike laughed nervously back.

“So, who was the girl?”

“Nobody.”

“Don’t lie. She’s from our school, isn’t she? You’re trying out the cellphone charm, aren’t you?”

“What cellphone charm?”

“If you have a picture of the person you like on your phone, it will help you get her!”

“That’s nonsense.”

“Says you. And how did you get her picture anyways? You secretly took a picture of her didn’t you! Pervert!”

“I’m not a pervert! And why are you talking to me anyways?”

“You don’t know? From today onwards I’ll be sitting next to you.”

“WHAT?!” The people in the class turned back to look at Mike. He put his head down. This would be a long school term…

——————————————–

Here are the 3 main characters of my story. This is all a work in progress and will never be completed, perhaps unless I’m feeling very bored.

Mike (言诚) Gemini(June 6),

Probably due to being a Gemini, he’s indecisive, self interested and insensitive to others.

World (吴世界) Sagittarius(December 21), Blood Group A

Full of energy and spirited, like a centaur (Sagittarius is a half-horse/half-man)

Cassia (李桂花) Capricorn(January 19), blood group B

Feminine, polite yet introverted. Like a sheltered flower.

school days 1

Deleted all my old, old posts. now it’s time to tag all my recent posts. The Tag Cloud on the right has all tagged posts, with the biggest tags=most common tags. Probably a lot of stuff copied from the internet lol

Never write for too long le, so shall flex my brain muscles a bit lol

—————————————————————————–

“Wait!” The girl in the uniform cried out to the closing train doors.

With a little leap she managed to get in just before the sliding doors met each other. Mike looked at her as she adjusted her skirt, sat down and took out a novel. She had big hazel eyes which stood out from her fair face, and black flowing hair which reached to her chest, which was so round and full her uniform could not hide it.

The only thing Mike knew about her was that she was from the class next door and that she seemed to liked reading as she was always holding a book on the way home. Even though it was only a small discovery that he and she took the same train home, it made him feel strangely happy. However, he felt it was not necessary to investigate about her or talk to her. Mike was just satisfied to admire her from afar.

The girl looked up from her book, to see Mike gazing at her. Mike quickly turned away, returning his eyes to her once the girl got back to her book. He took out his phone to change the currently playing song, but went to the camera function instead and pointed his phone at that beautiful girl…

“I began killing those bastards didn’t I?

But why was it that I started doing that?

I was raped…

That’s right, all six of those bastards gangraped me. The looked like they were having fun raping me. They raped me in every hole they could find. Then, they rested for a bit and continued to rape me again. So I killed them. No, that’s not it…

I was soiled…

That’s right. That’s what I couldn’t forgive. Huh? Was I always such a proud person…Why was it I felt so disgusted at the thought of being soiled…?

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!”
